How to display the results on my site

Asked by Olivier Turounet on June 08, 2011 at 10:42 AM

First of all, I am French so please excuse my english... I would like to congratulate you, JotForm is the great surprise of my day !!

I have just one question. I am working on a website where people give their opinion on products. For example, I would like to use a star rating from 1 to 5. Then, if 30 people give their opinion and the average rating is 3, I would like to know if it is possible to display a star rating of 3 in front of the product with the number of people that give their opinion.

I am not sure to be clear, then I give you one good example of what I want to do : IMDB !

    Thank you again !

    Hi Olivier,

You have two options on how to display form submission entries on your site.

The first one is by embedding an iframed html table or grid listing report on your site. It does not have much customization options but it is certainly the easier solution. There is no need for extra programming to implement such a solution.

To create an html table or grid listing report:

    1.  Go to My Forms then click on the form that you want to create a report of
    2.  Click the Reports button then click Add New Report

    3.  Choose HTML table or Grid Listing then click Next
    4.  Check/uncheck the fields that you want to show/hide, click Next
    5.  Copy the iframe codes provided then paste it onto your webpage's soure code.

The second solution is by taking advantage of the http post sending of submitted information. Using PHP, you can have the submitted data dumped into a database. You can then have a customized php page which fetches the data from that database and then displays it in any manner you want. You will need intermediate to advanced knowledge of php to pull this one off though.

Read this article for a basic sample of how sending post data works. Here is another read that might be useful to you.

Hope you find this post useful. Feel free to ask around the forum if you have further questions. Thank you.

I have the french version of your site so I do not find the step 2 :

    1. Create a "test.php" on your site and put this code in it:
    <? print_r($_POST); ?>
    2. Go to "Setup & Share" -> "Thank You" -> "Custom URL" and enter http://domain.com/test.php
    3. Enable the "Send Post Data"
    4. Save and submit your form.

    Thank you !

I see you've asked a follow-up question so I have moved it to this new thread here so that we can answer your question separately.
