    Enable hover description for widgets

    Asked by tlinhfma on December 08, 2013 at 10:00 PM

    Hi,

    I would like to do the above for my form, but when I was about to delete the current date composite field, I was warned that I would lose all data (in forms already submitted) associated with that field.

    What is the best way to do this task without losing data?

    Thank you very much for your help.

    Hi there,

    There are two possible solutions.

    1. Backup your form submissions data so when you removed that fields, you still have the data on the local file, then delete that 3 fields afterwards. To backup your form data, simply download your form submissions to Excel or to CSV format. Guide: http://www.jotform.com/help/73-How-to-Download-Form-Submissions-to-Excel-CSV-PDF

    2. Do not removed that fields, instead hide them by injecting CSS codes to your form. This will preserved the existing submissions data for that fields in your form. However, keep in mind that the 3 field columns will stay on your form submissions data grid unless you deleted these fields. If you like this solution, let us know so we can provide you the custom CSS codes to hide that 3 fields.

    Thanks!

    Nevermind, here's the CSS codes that will hide the 3 mentioned fields.

    #id_6, #id_82, #id_83{display:none;}

    Thanks!

    Thanks a lot EltonCris!

    But I have another issue with the widget - it does not allow me to put a hint, or subtitle. Is there anyway to overcome this limitation?

    Thanks a lot  for your help.

    The Date Picker Widget does allow you to set a label, which can be aligned to the left, right or top. Unfortunately it does not provide hint or subtitle/sub-label settings. In which case we can set a feature requests ticket, if you so desire.

    For example purposes, I have cloned your form and replaced the fields with the Date Picker Widget.

    Do let us know if you need further assistance, thank you.

    Thank you very much Cesar! Yes the ability to add a hint and sub-label to the widget would be fantastic! How do I create a request ticket?

    Kind regards.

    @tlinhfma

    Only us can create a request ticket. I have now brought your suggestion to our higher team regarding on the hover description for the widgets. You will be informed here once it's implemented if possible.

    Thanks!

    By the way, I have changed your request to hover description instead of hint since hint text may not be feasible to implement on the widgets entirety. It has to be added manually per widgets so a hover description would be a good alternative instead.

    Thanks!
