Is it possible to have a quantity field, and times this by the price of a product (£3.50, in this case) to get a final price, without having to use a payment provider. This is because I do not want the client to have to pay there and then, I want to collect the money in person. I just need to let them know on the form how much they will have to pay. Can this be done?

The Purchase Order tool does the exact same thing. It acts just like the other Payment Tools, sans the payment part. It does price calculation and much more.
The Purchase Order form can be found under the Payment Tools:

Please note, however, that a submission made using the Purchase Order field is also considered as a payment and uses up a payment allocation in your free account.
