I'm pretty new at this and was wondering if you Can you direct me to specific 3rd party situation that can enable the use of a phone's or computer's camera to "read" a barcode of a product and have the numbers entered into a form.
This happens to be the most important feature for me. JotForms is able to take pictures and perform basic calculations, but barcode reading would make this perfect for me, hopefully without me needing to do any extra programming!

Our QR Code Reader can do that: http://widgets.jotform.com/widget/qr_code_reader. Kindly check and let us know your thoughts.

Thanks. I actually already have that on my form but nothing seems to happen. I can see that my webcam on my computer is turned on, but when I hold a barcode up to it nothing is captured. Also, I hope this works for regular 1D barcodes (UPC-A, etc). Do I need to do something else?
Here is my form: http://form.jotform.us/form/33535474734156
I'm just playing with it now. I've added the barcode reader and QR code reader.
Thanks for the help.

Hello Darren, the QR Code Reader is seems to be not working at this moment. I will escalate this to our development team and notify them about this widget. Please stay tuned on this thread and we will notify you on this thread for any updates or resolutions. Thank you

Is there any update or ETA on this widget fix? I'm hoping to give iPad's to my retail stores soon so they can send me barcode and product info through JotForm accurately and effiently. Please let me know!

Hello, thank you for checking up on this thread. We can not give you an ETA on this to when it will be fixed or when this widget will be fully functional. Our developers will have a say on that. Rest assured, there is already a developer assigned to this issue but we can really give you an ETA on this at the moment. We will update you here on this thread for any news or progress concerning the QR Barcode reader widget. Thank you.

I am sorry to inform you that there is no convenient method for iPhones or iPads to scan through the camera, just yet.
We will make barcode readers available when we can find a reliable solution for both PCs and smartphones.
Thank you for your understanding

I have resolved the issue....If you are trying to scan a barcode into Jotform you will need to download this App:
Once you have it downloaded onto your device go into the settings and change your URL to the Jotform you have fields that you wish to scan the numbers into from the barcode.
You will need to change the following settings:
Default URL (the URL to your form)
URL (same as above)
Field Name (The name of the field you want to import into)
Scan to Web Field (Set to ON)
Scan to (Choose Form(Post)
Scan to Current or Selected Field (Set to ON)
Starts At (See what number you want the scanner to start with
String Length (How long your serial number, etc. is)
The app isn't cheap (24.99)...but works like a charm.
I use it to inventory asset tagbarcodes on computer equipment at our school.

Thank you for sharing to us this workaround. This should work for users who need the same requirements.

This is just amazing. Thank you!
- MartinSAAnswered on August 31, 2015 at 07:15 AM
the app is even more expensive now (45,- EURO) so i'm looking for a cheaper alternative. Is de QR-code scanner from JOTFORM working?
I hope so!
- MartinSAAnswered on August 31, 2015 at 07:18 AMQR Code Reader (http://widgets.jotform.com/widget/qr_code_reader) is flash-based... :-( Not supported on iPhone. Any chance you update this widget to HTML5?
- JotForm SupportWelvinAnswered on August 31, 2015 at 08:53 AM
Your issue about the QR Code widget has been moved here: http://www.jotform.com/answers/651306.
I would also suggest creating a separate thread if you have an inquiry with our features instead of posting replies to older threads.

Barry: Thanks for your comment above. Can you provide a little more detail.
How does it work exactly? Do you open the form on your iphone and tap into the field where you want the scanned data, then switch apps over to uniscan and tap on scan then switch back over to form in safari? Trying to figure out how much / if it would speed up our workflow.
Do you still recommend it?
- JotForm SupportChriistianAnswered on December 07, 2016 at 04:44 AM
Yes you are right except that you don't need to tap into the field where you want to the scanned data. According to what Barry said, the fields are set already on the settings.
Regarding to the Barcode Scanner widget, we will have to wait for the backend team who is working on this. We will update you in this thread once there are updates.

Hey after doing some barcode scanner research, there is an app for IOS https://appsto.re/us/DAiUK.i that is only 3 dollars and can scan directly into forms.
Really no settings to adjust, just type in your form URL and start scanning away.
Hope its helpful, Cheers!

Thank you for the suggestion @chrisjoyride. We'll keep this in mind for other users who may need a barcode scanner app. If you need any assistance, please feel free to contact us again. Regards.
