Hi - the title just about says it all - is there a means by which to automatically check a specific checkbox based on the referring (prior) page? If a visitor comes from one of our product pages, I want the corresoding check box to be pre-checked for the user.
If that's not an option - is there a method to include jquery and possibly accomplish it this way?

But, I would suggest you also take a look at this article first
Here is a sample form where you can see checkboxes are auto selected.
You did not share to us the URL of your website where we can test the embedded form, but I think you can already pre-populate the checkboxes and also capture the URL which form was submitted from using only the URL of the embedded form.
