I need Step By Step instructions to create an edit link

I get it that it can go into an auto responder email. When I type it into the email with the brackets, do I need to actually create a link? A link to what? If I link to the form itself, won't it just go to a blank form? I can't wrap my wee brain around this.

    Hi,

The stuff that you type in your autoresponder email, {edit_link}, is in fact a placeholder for the actual link just as {responderName} and {responderPhone} are placeholders for the actual values filled in by the user in the "Responder name" and "Responder phone" fields, respectively.

In the actual autoresponder sent, the edit link will look something like

    http://www.jotform.com/form.php?formID=10853943114&sid=174069182112200551&mode=edit

where 10853943114 is the form id and 174069182112200551 is the submission id

These numbers will automatically be replaced by our email alerts system.

If you're having difficulties in inserting an edit link in your autoresponder, please watch this short video to learn more.

Let us know if you require further assistance. Thank you.

Thanks for your quick reply. You guys are fast, and we appreciate it!

Your explanation makes sense, and I watched the video. When I did the email test and opened the email, the edit link was there, but it didn't look or behave like any link I've ever seen before. Then I filled in a few fields of the form myself (it's embedded in my website), and submitted it to see if the auto-responder would act like I expected it to when it was actually the result of a submitted form. Same thing: the edit link tag is there, but I don't see the way for the user to re-access the form.

    Talk to me like I'm a 6-year-old (O:

Scratch the last message. Somehow, the auto-response finally came through with the link - and it works! I do appreciate your patience. - GFPat

    Pat,

Glad to hear that it's finally working for you now. I was about to do some further testing on your form to figure out what the problem is, if there is any.

As always, we are more than happy to serve our loyal users. Feel free to search the forum or ask around if you have other questions in mind.
