Had HTML emails to me working fine, today I changed to text only just to try. I have switched back but am still receiving as text only. I have tried switching back and forth a few times, but still no joy. Any ideas?

Switching to text destroys the structure of the html-based template, so switching back wiill only change the email encoding to html, not switch back to the old template.
The only solution for your problem is to recreate the email template.

Sure it helps, but an epic fail! There should have at least been a pop up warning of some kind that if you switch you can not switch back.
At least I know what to do next, thank you.
