Securing or eliminating data contained within confirmation email's

Asked by doylesecurity on February 07, 2014 at 02:09 PM

We're a security company with residential and commercial security customers who need to update their emergency contact information ocassionally. The forms conhtain highly confidential data such as customer names, emergency contacts and their phone numbers and security codes. When the customers submit the form, we send them a conformation email which contains thr data that they entered.

Q1) Is there any way for us to secure or encrypt this data being sent back to them in the confirmation email?

Q2 If not, how do I send a confirmation email without all of the confidential data contained within it?

    Hi,

Jotform forms are secure. We make sure that no data will get expose during submissions and forwarding of emails.

Q1) Is there any way for us to secure or encrypt this data being sent back to them in the confirmation email?

-You can use our Secure Forms. All you need to do is to enable SSL to your form: Setting Up a Secure or SSL Form. Secure forms are encrypted so submissions should be safe.

Q2 If not, how do I send a confirmation email without all of the confidential data contained within it?

-You can modify your form form notification/autoresponder email and remove the field from the email body settings

Edit your form > Setup & Embed > Notification > Notification/Autoresponder Email > Email body

    Thanks

    Hi Mike,

How do you make sure the data on the forwarded emails is secure? -By using Secure SMTP to your form notification/autoresponder email settings. You can use your own STMP Settings or you can register to Mandrill and use their settings to your form. Check this guide: How to use Mandrill to Send Emails From Your Own Email Address

    Thanks

I tried to include some of the form input in the subject line and sender info of an Encrypted form but the subject line field and the sender info is encrypted.

I tried the method mentioned in the first response by Welvin of not including the data in the form body. I removed all data used in the subject line and sender info from the body of the form and it is still encrypted.

Is there a way to take some of the user's input and include it in the subject line and/or the sender info without it being encrypted but leaving the rest of the info encrypted?

Some of the features that are not available for Encrypted Forms* are:
    1. PDF Downloads,
    2. Reports (this includes downloading Excel and CSV files from within Submission Panel),
    3. Emails that contain form data in them.

Any form encrypted form data cannot be used in emails.
