The responders email is not showing up and it used to

Asked by DavidLeeBiz on July 15, 2011 at 04:57 PM

    Hello,

When I get a completed form, it is now coming from noreply@jotform. It used to come from the sender?
I don't know why this change occurred. This is happening on forms that I am cloning and not my older forms.

    for example:

i know get forms sent to me as follows:

        From:     JotForm <noreply@jotform.com>
        Subject:     Notification 2
        Date:     July 15, 2011 4:53:00 PM EDT
        To:     Mari Lazar <mari@kturbangolfacademy.com>

Whereas I used to get them this way:

        From:     Jackson Sabbeth <melgreen@me.com>
        Subject:     Notification 2
        Date:     July 13, 2011 9:52:37 PM EDT
        To:     Mari Lazar <mari@kturbangolfacademy.com>

I prefer this way. What changed and how can I change it back.

    Thanks
    Mari Lazar

    Hi Mari,

Thank you for sharing your concern. To my knowledge, if your form doesn't ask for an email address (i.e. there is no email address field in the form), the default sender email address that will be assigned is noreply@jotform.com. Note that the form has no way of knowing the email address of the user if there is no email address field in your form.

On the other hand, if your form has an email address field and your notifications are properly configured, the senders email address in the notifications that you receive will be the email address of the user.

We hope you find this information useful. Please let us know if you need further assistance. Thank you for using JotForm!

I have an email address on my form and I am now getting notifications with just the name Jot Form

I can get 10 or twelve a day - so just how do I find the one that I want to work on without having to wade through them all.

Still did not get an aswer to this from yesterday

Sorry it is not the email address. The answer to my question on the form is what I always received by email. This questioin and answer is the first item on the form.

Then suddenly the infomation of the name has been replaced by JotForm in my 'From' column on emails.  And only oner email.

Why and how do you fix this. I have changed nothing and I can only image you have changed something your end.

In past I always received two notifications. One did have JotForm as sender with the subject as New Submission Artistes Info. The second always had the answer to the first question as sender and the subject line would read 'Notification 2'

I receive 100 plus emails a day and after testing Jotform and it worked as I required I went premium  but it has changed now and not for the good.

    Hello William,

I have tested your form by making a regular submission.  It shows that the issue has been fixed now. You should have received one submission that came from "Jotform band".

Please try re-saving your form and check again.

    Thanks,

    Liyam

I checked this form and found two email notifications. One is configured correctly, while the other is configured to be sent by noreply@jotform.com

Please delete it and let us know how it goes.

    Thanks,
    Allan

That is not what I wanted!!!!

In this case I would want it to show Jotform Band as sender and not just Jot form. I want the answer to the first question on the form send as sender as it always was.

It always has send the it in this manner as Notification 2 ever since I took up with your company then a few days ago it all changed and I just got Jotform as sender.

It is of no use to me at alkl sending it as jotform as sender. It takes me too long in the day to search my emails for the one that I want to set up on my website.

It worked very well when I got two emails.

What I did was enter my own prefered name, I used "Jotform band" as my artist band name in your form.  The email sender also turned showed as liyam@test.cc.  Please do test your form and let us know the results.

    Thanks.

i just tested the Form.. I receved the two emais as I previously did. However both are showing the sender as Jotfor.  I used the band name of My Test so I would have expected the one with subject of Notification 2 to have the name My Test as sender but it does not.

It always did until a few days ago but not anymore. Getting then with just Jotform as sender is not what I originally got or what went premium for.

Just one of the 2 showing the band name as sender would be perfect.

Thank you for the details, William.

This is in fact a bit interesting, as whenever I try to make a submission, it shows the prefered sender email and name. Can you please try again?  I have included my email address and see how it will show up this time in my inbox.

    We apologize for your inconvenience.

    Thank you for testing, William.

I received the sender name as "Another Test" with the email address from me@home.com.  Did you receive the same?

JotForm       New submission: Artistes Info  15.41  8KB

The above is what is shown as my notification

Only go one this time.  No band name shown on notification.  The band name is of course in the actual form but I need it on the notification as it always was. I have no time or patience to seach through all the emails from Jotform for it

I am not saying I am not receiving them. I am saying that I am not receiving the same notifications that I used to get until a few days ago.. You have changed them not me. In thios case the sender would be shown amongst all my emails as 'Another Test' NOT Jotfoirm

    I understand, William.

The sender name that I received was "Another Test", not JotForm.  And the email address that it came from was me@home.com, not noreply@jotform.com.  I was not referring to the contents as I haven't opened the email yet.

I also know this was a bug and what I have been explaining was that this bug has already been fixed.

Now I guess we'll have to wait for you to receive the other email with the subject line Notification 2.  If you have not received it yet, can you check if it landed in your spam folder?

    Thanks.

I guess now I can say we're now making progress though now what you're experiencing is a different issue already.  It seems that your email now somehow is blocking open email relays coming from our server.

May I also know if you're using an email client software such as MS Outlook and Eudora?  If so, can you login to your email account using your browser and check if the email notifications landed in your web mail's spam folder?

Can you also have these IP addresses whitelisted by your email service provider:

    174.34.57.214
    174.34.57.216
    174.34.57.218
    174.34.57.219
    208.117.50.251

    Thanks.

I decided to sleep on it and a submission sent aduring that time was never delivered to me.   I then did my own test and the same - not delivered.

I went into your site and removed the email notification and then replaced it and bingo it works ok.

My other forms with you were still working OK. I think the the problem came from your end and it allcame about from the 5th of the month.

I am now getting the notifications as i originally wanted them - AT THE MOMENT. I will see how it goes.
