Is it possible to read data from other forms?

Asked by jknorpp on March 18, 2014 at 07:35 PM

    Dear JotForm Staff,

is it possible to have a form reading data from another form?

A client fills out a form A, submitting emal address and some more data (chosing an option and submitting a number).

In form B that client should be able by again submitting email address to be shown the initial data (chosen option and submitted number) and then proceed to a payment method.

Thanks a lot for some hints IF that is possible and if so where to search for guidance.

    Best regards

    Johannes Knorpp

Yes, that is possible by passing data from one form to another using this app

You can get the URL and paste it in a Thank You page redirect URL

    Hi Jeanette,

it's been quite some time till i finally managed to take care about this project again.

Could you go a bit deeper into detail about how to do that?

I got an URL using this app picking Form A.

Then I created a second Form (Form B) with only one field to fill in an email address.

I set up a Thank You page with a redirect URL and pasted the URL I had got in the first step.

Filling out Form B and submitting will only give me the empty Form A again.

What I try to achieve is:

Filling out Form B and submitting gives a fully filled Form showing the data of Form A related to that email address given by client both in Form A and B.

Then she/he can submit again and therefore will have a notification Email with all the data, but a totally different rest of the text than after submitting to Form A. (Actually she/he will fill Form B some weeks or even months after filling Form A).

Thanks a lot in advance and best regards!

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Here's how I understand your process.

    Here's the process:

    1. Create Form A
    2. Create Form B
    3. Use field prepopulator and select Form A
    4. Add the prepopulate URL to form B's custom thank you URL
    5. Fill out Form B then you should be redirected to Form A with a populated data

You can follow this steps if this is what you are trying to achieve.

    Hi jedcadorna,

    thanks for your respond!

I guess I'm maybe thinking in a too complicated way.

What I want to achieve is this:

    1. Client fills out Form A: http://www.jotformeu.com/form/41981541806357

    (booking of a workshop)

3 months later: 2. Client fills out Form B: http://www.jotformeu.com/form/41981323980358

With submitting the data in database of Form A related to this just entered email address in Form B is read. Clients gets forwarded to a page that looks like this:

(booking of hotel for that workshop ≠ booking of workshop)

Unfortunately, we do not have a look-up feature that would accomplish this one. Especially, this involves data from two different forms.

If you simply want to fill FORM B from the data submitted to FORM A, then that is possible using the prepolulation method.
