REALLY, REALLY IMPORTANT: Any updates on this?"Can we get Jotform to break out the components of the payment widget into multiple columns in the Excel export option? All information from the payment widget is lumped into one column."
This is a re-post of a comment on How to Export Form Data to Excel
- allanftdAnswered on July 25, 2011 at 11:21 PM
We understand the urgency of this matter and we apologize for the inconvenience. A workaround that I could think of right now while this issue is being fixed is to use the built in Excel functions, particularly converting delimited texts. Here's how:
1. First thing that you should do is to export an Excel or CSV copy of the submissions from your JotForm submissions page.
2. Copy the column where all of the payment information is lumped into, and paste it in a new Excel sheet. Then follow the steps indicated on one of these tutorials:
3. Copy the resulting (now separated) columns that you got in step 2 and paste it into the original Excel file that you exported in step 1.
We hope you find this information useful. Please let us now if we can be of further assistance.
Thank you for using JotForm!

Thank you for the detailed answer. Unfortunately, it isn't as simple as that. Looking at the data:
US Subscription - 1 year (12 ISSUES- Save $56.88*): $15 Total: $15 ==Payer Info==First Name FIRSTNAMELast Name LASTNAMEE-Mail EMAIL@ADDRESS.COM ==Address==Street 123 STREET ADDRESS City CITYNAMEState CAZip 90001Country United States
you can see that there aren't separator characters in many of the fields, for example: between the first name value and the field name "Last Name", the city name and the field name "State", etc.
If you can explain the parsing logic for these fields, I can probably use the current file using the procedure you indicate.

While you are waiting for my colleague's response, I'll be submitting a ticket to notify our developers of your feature request. Bear in mind though that we cannot guarantee a lead time for a feature's completion, let alone its approval.
We will let you know once we hear an update from our development team. In the meantime, let's just wait for my colleague's workaround to your issue.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thank you Neil, for escalating this issue. I hope the developers take up the project!
As you can see, I have received no workaround yet. I would appreciate any additional tips or suggestions.
- JotForm SupportNeilVicenteAnswered on August 05, 2011 at 04:08 PM
You're very much welcome. For what it's worth, the ticket I submitted is now tagged as important although I don't really want to keep your hopes up. Our developers will post here when this feature becomes implemented.
As for the workaround, I am not sure if my colleague's still up for it but in my opinion it would be near impossible to parse those information since there is no standard character that separates the subscription info, payer info, and address from one another.
In the meantime, you can probably just parse them manually. Or, perhaps someone from our support team can give a suggestion.

This is the same issue users, including myself, have been complaining about forever. When a form is handling a sale processed through PayPal, the resultant data gets garbled together with other unnecessary fields.
The total sale amount has NOTHING to do with anyone's name, address etc. Instead of figuring out how to separate them, you need to NOT PUT THEM TOGETHER in the first place.
If some users need the info being passed back from PayPal, that info belongs in a different field(s).
I'm really surprised that a tool as well developed as JotForm would be so stubornly attached to this flawed practice.
It also makes it impossible to generate a decent E-mail to the form submitter to confirm a purchase.

Thanks for a well-thought follow up to this bug report. This is already in the to do list of our to development team but no new updates are available at the moment. I shall increase the priority of this pending item and we apologize for the continued inconvenience.
- dmichaelsAnswered on September 27, 2011 at 05:25 PM
Thank you. I hope I've explained this clearly this time. Can you give me any idea of when this might be addressed? It's really not a minor issue for anyone using PayPal.
- JotForm SupportmlizAnswered on September 28, 2011 at 03:39 AM
Unfortunately as much as we would like to give out a definite time frame for the implementation of the feature request we do not have such information yet. Rest assured though that this request has already been marked as important and is already assigned to one of our developers.
Thank you for your patience.
- dmichaelsAnswered on October 10, 2011 at 12:20 PM
Any update on when this issue will be resolved? Our payment confirmation E-mails continue to go to my users looking pretty amateurish.
It seems that there are so many possible ways of addressing the fix and there seem to be many people looking for it to get done already.
Please advise of an estimated date of completion.
- JotForm SupportMike_TAnswered on October 10, 2011 at 04:52 PM
I have forwarded a request to our developers and hope that we will get some additional infromation in the nearest time.
Thank you very much for your patience and cooperation in this matter.
- JotForm SupportMike_TAnswered on October 11, 2011 at 06:47 PM
I am very sorry to inform you but we are still not able to provide any ETA at this moment. Currently, our developers are working hard to solve more important bugs and implementing new features. Please note that we are not going to stop improving JotForm, requested feature will be provided as soon as possible.
We hope for your understanding in this matter.

I'm having this same issue. JotForm works AMAZING, but this output issue is a fatal flaw for our purpose. It's good see that the issue was being addressed 6 months ago, I'm just wondering if it's any closer to being fixed.
- fxrAnswered on February 03, 2012 at 12:37 PM
It has been assigned to a developer and marked as 'important'
Its difficult to know when it will be implemented, but it is definately something we should see at some point.
- dmichaelsAnswered on March 20, 2012 at 07:52 PM
It would be nice. I know there are several threads with this subject, but even looking at just this instance, it goes back 8 months already.
The PayPal integration makes an otherwise fantastic product look poor.
On a related subject, the other loose end is the "Incomplete" submissions that don't get reported to anyone.
- jeanettebmzAnswered on March 20, 2012 at 08:47 PM
Like my other colleagues have stated, It has been assigned to a developer and it is already marked as 'important'
However Its difficult to set a time frame for when it will be implemented, but it is definately something they will be taking care at some point . Due to other recent threads realated to this request , I am sure they will be reviewing the request and prioritize it based on the importance.
I am anyways, sending the request regarding to any update to level 2

PLEASE! It is Mid of April now. Any news on this subject.
I love Jotform and use it intensively, but until now i retype all the paypal customer data into my database. Things can of cause take some time, but thinking service it would be natural to announce a date for delivery. Please keep me involved and proactively informed. That is nice customer relationship. Still waiting ...

So, this dates back to July 2011 - long time...any updates regarding this?

looks like a dead post...but the ghost is still lingering
- JotForm SupportEduardoMendezAnswered on January 30, 2013 at 10:44 AM
The post is still open and in fact has gotten a good number of votes. It is marked as "Important" in terms of priority and I assure you that the dev in charge of this tickets has been notified with your comments.
We appreciate your patience and your feedback!
- JotForm SupportNeilVicenteAnswered on March 20, 2013 at 09:57 PM
We have just recently implemented this change. Payment data is now separated into three columns when exported to Excel or CSV format.
Please do test it out and let us know your thoughts.
- eaglestfxcAnswered on November 12, 2013 at 01:50 PM
Just looked at the 3 payments column in excel file and I found Product, Payer Info, and Payer address. Product info is all in 1 column with no common delimiter to separate the product info. I need to be separate the product name, dollar amount, and custom property information (size) into separate excel columns so that totals by item/size can be calculated. My form is http://form.jotform.us/jsform/33145720244143"
