    Submissions aren't going through

Asked by EGrotto on July 27, 2011 at 10:28 AM

I'm using my form in-house at work, and many of my colleagues are telling me they submitted something that I never received. I've checked my spam settings, but I don't think that could have anything to do with it, because the same person could make two requests, and one could come through while the other one doesn't. The sender isn't getting confirmation, and I'm not getting the form. Any idea why this might be happening? Everyone loves the form, and I don't want to have to scrap it, but right now, it's unreliable.

I can't post a link to my form because it's on a password-protected page. However, some people are using the form that's hosted on the Jotform site, and we've having issues with that one too.

    Hello EGrotto,

Have you checked your submissions page if there is anything that went there and had not received from your email notifications?

I'm seeing 9 submissions for July 26, and one for July 27.

I also noticed that you have a condition set on your email notification which sends to qking@e....com.  Although if the condition is not met, it will go to workrequests@e....com.  Can you also confirm that you have not received any notification in any of these email addresses?

    We'll wait for your response.

    Thanks,

    Liyam

I have not checked, and unfortunately, I just deleted all of my submissions on this page since I never look at them there and didn't want them taking up space.

But in my inbox, I show only six for July 26 and one for July 27.

qking has gotten a few requests, but not most of those sent.

workrequests gets the bulk of the requests (including those that are also to be sent to qking), but there are some that don't come through at all. This is what confuses me so much; there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to what comes through and what doesn't.

Thanks for helping me try to figure this out.

    Hi,

I just noticed that you have a condition with two rules that are the same:

Is the second rule supposed to be something else? Could you be expecting emails for another type of QA aside from "Front End and Back End"?

    We'll await your response. Thanks!

I might have goofed up the conditions. There are three options for type of QA: Front End, Back End, and Front and Back End. Here's how I want it to be:

If QA = Front End and Back End, it's supposed to go to qking and workrequests

If QA = Front End Only, it's supposed to go to workrequests

If QA = Back End Only, it's supposed to go to qking

    Hi,

You need to create three different notifications then create separate conditions for each of these notifications

If QA = Front End and Back End, send Notification 1 to qking and workreqeusts

If QA = Front End Only, send Notification 2 to workrequests

If QA = Back End Only, send Notification 3 to qking

Let me know how this works for you. I'll wait for your updates. Thanks!

    I THINK I've got it.

Thanks for your help. I'll let you know how it works.

Well, I made the adjustments, and now I'm getting some requests twice and other requests not at all. Just this afternoon, one person sent me two nearly identical requests back to back. I got one and didn't get the other.

I notice that I am getting them all in my submissions basket here. But I have an email address set up just for submissions; I don't think I should have to monitor here too.

    Hi,

I think you have not fully understood what I said in my last reply.

    This:

If QA = Front End and Back End, send Notification 1 to qking and workreqeusts

If QA = Front End Only, send Notification 2 to workrequests

If QA = Back End Only, send Notification 3 to qking

    should translate to this:

I also see another notification in your form named "Work Request" which I assume is the notification for all submissions in which "Type of Work" is not equals to "QA".

If that's the case, then you would have to create a condition for that notification too, since right now, it always gets sent whenever someone submits the form, regardless of the "Type of Work" selected.

Your new condition should look like this:

After configuring all conditions, your email alerts should be like this:

Hope you find this answer clear and concise. Feel free to ask questions if there's something that you don't quite understand. Thanks!

I understood, but I wasn't sure if you realized the form was already set up to send all notifications to workrequests anyway. I figured since the form was automatically set to send everything to workrequests, that I would really only have to do special notifiations for the two that are supposed to go to qking. When I set up special conditions to send things to workrequests, I was getting them twice. I guess twice is better than never though.

Honestly, this topic has gotten way out of hand I'm not even sure what to answer anymore. I guess the only thing left to ask is if we can put this issue to rest. Does your form still have any problem that needs attention?

Wow. Well, my original issue still hasn't been fixed. The QA notification issue was part of it, I'm sure, but submissions for other types of work are having issues too. Some will come through fine; others won't.

I suppose I'll just keep trying to troubleshoot it myself.
