Using WordPress to create website- is this code OK for invoking JotForm?

Asked by Lori Mains  on April 11, 2014 at 02:58 PM

    Hi,

I read carefully through all the Help sections on Embedding a form and I ended up doing it a different way then suggested, so I want to make sure that JotForm Support doesn't see any issues with it.

    Environment:

website is created/maintained using WordPress but is not hosted on wordpress.com.

It is website and not a blog (many of the directions suggest going to the "Add Post" page on Wordpress, which is not the section of Wordpress that I use.

What happens when I use JotForm suggested code:

I believe JotForm suggests embedding this code in my HTML:

    <script type="text/javascript" src="//form.jotformpro.com/jsform/409952159xxxxx"></script>

    <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:Arial; panose-1:2 11 6 4 2 2 2 2 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-536859905 -1073711037 9 0 511 0;} @font-face {font-family:"MS 明朝"; mso-font-charset:78; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-536870145 1791491579 18 0 131231 0;} @font-face {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-536870145 1107305727 0 0 415 0;} @font-face {font-family:Consolas; panose-1:2 11 6 9 2 2 4 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-520092929 1073806591 9 0 415 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-unhide:no; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:Arial; mso-fareast-font-family:"MS 明朝"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi; mso-fareast-language:JA;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; mso-default-props:yes; font-size:10.0pt; mso-ansi-font-size:10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt; font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"MS 明朝"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Cambria; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi; mso-fareast-language:JA;} @page WordSection1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:45.35pt .75in 45.35pt .75in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.WordSection1 {page:WordSection1;} -->

This works, however, it imbeds my registration form right there on my webpage.  What I want it to do instead is to open up a new tab in the browser for the user to register.

Is it ok to do it in the following way instead??

    <a target="_blank" href="https://secure.jotform.co/form/324662240xxxxx" >register</a>

This seems to work just I want it to- the end user clicks on the blue link "register" and a new tab is opened which brings them to the JotForm.

What puzzles me is that if it is that easy, why isn't that suggested on the JotForm website?  What am I missing??

    Thanks.

    Thank you for contacting us.

Let me please inform you, that your method with the link is acceptable and completely fine, thank you for sharing it with the other JotForm users.

It is probably that many form owners do not want to show forms outside of their sites, so that the embedding method is more suitable in their cases. Also, when you open the link on a new tab it has a JotForm based URL, and not everyone likes it.

Please feel free to contact us if you need any further assistance. We would love to help.
