Fonts Pulldown - Link to sample fonts

Asked by guelphlittletheatre on July 28, 2011 at 11:10 PM

I'm trying to create a font chooser pulldown (that works ok), but, I also want the ability to link to a file of sample fonts. So, I created a Free Text field with the words "Font Samples" and made those words be a link to the file with the fonts (this works too, sort of)). The purpose of this is to allow our clients to select a font that works well with our embroidery machine (i.e. not all fonts work well, so we have a recommended list).

Q1. Do I need to put the font sample file in a publicly accessible file service or can I upload it to a jotform location?

Q2. I want to format the "words" with CSS so that they end up just under my font pulldown. Can this be done? I've learned how to position a field horizontally but I'd like to move this field up closer to the Font Pulldown so it looks like a sub label under the pulldown. I'm afraid I don't know enough CSS yet...sorry.

Q3. Do you have any other suggestions on how to present this information that better uses the jotform features?

    Thanks

    Hi guelphlittletheatre,

First of all, thank you for using JotForm.

For your clients to be able to view your recommended fonts with an example given, they have to install it first on their end. Thus, I would suggest you create radio buttons instead. You can present a selection of font styles with the use of the font's image alongside with a radio button. I would also suggest you use "Form Collapse" under the Survey Tools as you need to show a number of fonts to your clients. Please refer to the figure below. Click image for preview

Under the "Options" from "Setup & Embed" tab, you can insert the following codes.

    Font Name

You can customize its height and width prior to your liking. Hope this helps.

If you do have further issues and concerns, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than glad to assist you.

I got that working. Excellent! Thank you

Any chance I can do the same thing in a pulldown? I can't seem to make it work.

Also, if I upload image(s) for a form are they available to only that form or to any form in the account? Do they get copied if I clone the form?

    Hi,

Try using conditions to implement a font selector in a pulldown/dropdown. You may want to take a look at the solution I offered in this thread - http://www.jotform.com/answers/10784-I-need-to-build-a-drop-down-list-with-different-fonts-in-the-box

When you clone a form with images in it, the images will be carried over since they are already uploaded to a web server, either ours or a 3rd party image host.  Only the URL of the images are needed to display them in any form.
