How secure is your form when used on facebook?

Asked by msdaniel1 on August 02, 2011 at 05:51 PM

I know very little about using forms and facebook. But since I am trying to grow the use of our fanpage I am trying to learn. I would like to use one of your forms on our facebook page. But since I work for a company that deals with personal information (addres, phone, birthday, etc)  I need to know how secure that information is. Can people fill out a form on facebook and know that the info is secure? (not gathered by facebook or JotForm) How will they know? How will I know? I need to be able to go to my boss and her boss and show how secure these forms are. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated!!

    Hi,

Submits made to forms embedded in your FB page cannot and will never be gathered by Facebook because the form sends the information directly to our server. Upon receiving the data, our server stores it in a database assigned to your account which you'll be able to view when you log in to our site. The submissions are also sent to your email address if you have configured an email alert.

There is no way for a user to know that the information sent is safe and will not be shared unless you make your own disclaimer on the form itself. Something along the lines of "Your information is secure and will not be shared".

As for the data's security in our server, below is a line taken from our Privacy Policy

We respect the privacy of our users and the privacy of their client data. All user information contained within the forms you may use or build on the JotForm Site are governed by our Terms of Service. You retain all rights to your data. We will not sell, share data. We will not access your data for non-administrative reasons.

Your forms are safe with us. No one will be able to access your data unless you share them yourself.
