How to track clicks on lighbox

Asked by mobiledynamic on August 24, 2011 at 01:47 AM

I have integrated the lightbox into my page and it is working well, however I can't work out how to track the clicks onto the lightbox. I obviously know how many pleople enter the form and press send but I want to track the drop off rate between people clicking the lightbox form button and not completing the form.

    Any suggestions?

    My page is: http://mobiledynamic.com.au/2-Mobile-Commerce-Solution/

    Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no way to do this in JotForm.

You can modify the lightbox code and trigger a javascript tracking call. That should work. You can then have similar code on the Thank You page.

I have external tracking URL’s. Can I make a call to a URL when form opens? This would do.

Unfortunately I don’t know how to code this. Can you point me in the direction?

    Thanks

    Hi Stephen,

If you have a Google Adwords account, you can accomplish this by inserting tracking pixel codes in your form using the Free Text HTML tool found under the Power Tools section.

This tracking pixel is essentially a 1x1 transparent image which will be fired everytime your form is loaded from the lightbox (assuming it is embedded only  via lightbox).

Below is a sample of a tracking code (and pixel - inside the red rectangle)

Let us know if you need further help with this. Thanks!

Here is the great news for you. We're pleased to announce that today we've released the native Form Analytics feature.

You can access this feature from More menu by selecting a JotForm on your My Forms page.

You can now see how many people viewed your forms, how many responded, and where the traffic is coming from. Hope this feature helps you in checking number of form views. Please give it a try and let us know your feedback.

There are some tips you might find useful in working with our Form Analytics at our blog post here :
