Also, there is a emoji slider so that there isn't a 'crying' emoji? I don't want my participants to choose an image that represents emotions associated with crying. Maybe there is a thumbs up, middle, down or red, green yellow?

Hi Morgan,
For the emoji slider, unfortunately, the emojis there cannot be changed to a different icon. If you want, we can forward this as a feature request to our developers to have an option to customize the emojis or icons displayed in the slider. However, we cannot guarantee its implementation since it also depends on several factors like how many are requesting it, how useful is it, etc.
