Widgets: target=_blank is removed from all widgets

I have a form with a few links to a webpage. When I click on them they open up in the iframe itself. When I add the "target=_blank" to the links it keeps getting removed. Is there anyway to allow the links to open in a new tab?

Unfortunately, it seems like there is a script in place which removes target="_blank" from every URL placed inside widgets. I am not sure what the purpose of such a script is - I have raised the concern to our developers previously but was only informed that this is intended and will not be changed.

I suggest using form elements that are not hosted inside iframes (such as all our Basic elements) - the attribute will not be removed from these. I apologize for the inconvenience.
