    How to add form to my ebay listing?

    Asked by johnboy666 on September 25, 2014 at 10:28 AM

    I'd just like to re-open this thread...

    I have done as suggested above to use a form within my ebay listing.

    The form does not function without the following Javascript.

    <script src="//max.jotfor.ms/static/prototype.forms.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

    <script src="//max.jotfor.ms/static/jotform.forms.js?3.2.3797" type="text/javascript"></script>

    Without this the user cannot submit the form.

    Is there a way around this?

    I'm not sure if ebay accepts javascript. Have you tried using <object> element instead of iframe? I can't test it since I don't have an active ebay account so not sure if the suggested solution using the object element works.

    By the way are you trying to add a listing or promoting on ebay? There's a tutorial about creating a promotion boxes that will allow you to add html codes http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/promoting-your-store.html.

    I'm trying to add a jotform within an ebay listing.

    Thanks very much - Using object instead of iframe I can achieve the same results without violating ebay terms.

    I used the following code:

     <object id="contentarea" standby="loading form, please wait..."
        title="loading form, please wait..." width="600" height="840"
        type="text/html" data="http://mysite.com/myjotform.html">

    Seems to work a treat!

    Great Idea and thanks again.

    Technically that's still in breach as I still have to call JS or Iframe into the page, but it's got to be a lot safer than my previous clumsy method.

    The <object> tag method does work for ebay.

    But I gave up on it as eBay or firefox seems to cache all the content within the tags.

    So any changes made do not take effect. Even clearing all cookies and cache, and trying browsers other than FF  made no difference. I think its being cached on the ebay side.

    I wanted to put a code at the top of the ebay listing for Xmas/ New Year special , which refereed to a small html file off-ebay. But it always left a gap at the top when the html file was blank.

    So I gave up

    Hi johnboy666,

    I'm glad it works for you. I'm also checking the policy page of ebay here, Javascript on Ebay. It seems that any manipulation or outside source is not allowed in Ebay listing. I don't have an active account on Ebay so I'm not sure how they handle listings with form. But anyway, as long as it works, it should be good. Let us know if you're having issues with it on other browsers.

    Thank you.

    Hi Lem,

    Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge on this. I made a separate thread for your post, so that we can take a look at it closer. Although, as I've first mentioned, it seems that Ebay has strict policies in using outside sources. Here's the separate thread for your post, http://www.jotform.com/answers/482286. Other support agent might have an idea on how to solve this or they might have something to share.

    Thank you.
