    conditionals using matrix values

Asked by lindar on September 21, 2011 at 12:52 PM

Is it possible to make conditional effects in a form based on results from a matrix? I cannot find the matrix in the list of conditional fields to choose from when trying to set up the conditional rule.

I attached an image showing which fields I'd like to display, only if there is a value greater than 0 entered in any of the 3 fields within the matrix ("Number of employees...").

    Thanks for your help,

    -Cathie R.

    Hi Cathie,

Unfortunately, no, values in a matrix field cannot be involved in a condition. Matrix fields are pretty complicated, the amount of "subfields" you can create with it is almost limitless. Thus, involving those subfields in conditions can get quite messy and might cause conflicts in the script responsible for the conditions.

An alternative I suggest is by replacing your matrix with multiple text boxes and a free text.

To make these fields sit side by side, you have to shrink them (right click > Shrink).

You can then use these fields in conditions in any way you want.
