For Dropdowns, can the labels I list be different from the values that are sent?

    Hi Guys,

I use Zapier to fill dropdown-fields in SugarCRM.
    This works perfectly!

The problem is that my dropdown values in Jotform
have to be exactly the same as the value-keys in SugarCRM.

So rather than listing values like: cstJimmyCochran,
I would like to list in Jotform: Jimmy Cochran ... but have jotform send the value cstJimmyCochran when submitted

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello Gerrit,

Unfortunately no. It is not possible to have a key-value pair of your drop down question. The submission data will always record the data which is displayed in the drop down field.

Please be noted that though it is possible to set the value of each drop down option but it can only be used in calculation widget. Please check the following work around and see if that fits in your requirement:

    1. Set the "Calculation Values" for each option of your drop down question. Please check the screenshot below on how to add the calculation values:

    2. Add a "Form Calculation" widget in your form and set the formula to show the dropdown value. Please set the form calculation to display the value as text instead of numeric. Please check the screenshot below on how to set it and how it displays the calculated value:

Now wherever you need to display the dropdown value, you should display the "Form Calculation" widget value which will display the value of every dropdown option.

    Hope this helps.

Do get back to us if you have any questions.

    Thank you!

    Perfect solution, thanks a lot!

I can use the Calculation result to fill my database like you mentioned.
I did have to start the calculation value list with an empty first line ( as shown in the image below) to account for the blank first value in the Options list.

It works perfectly though and I can make the calculation field invisible to users.

The sceenshots are missing from the solution.

Apologies, this is quite an old thread and was posted way back 2014. I strongly suggest that you open a new thread here in the forum for us to better assist you.

However, if you would just like to assign a calculation value on your drop down fields, you can check this guide:

    Thank you.
