    How can you open another form, that keeps the choice a user makes?

    Asked by Victor  on November 18, 2014 at 11:23 AM

    I have created a contact us form with a calender that our customers can select dates from.  What I would like to do is based on the dates selected it directs them to a different form with those dates recorded.  For instance, I would have a date selector form go to a booking/reservation form.

    When the customer selects the dates for travel option, I would like to be able to direct them to a new booking confirmation form with those dates already filled out along with other blank fields for their name and contact info, etc.

    I don't want to have both the calender picker and contact fields all on the same form.  Each form is unique in appearance and design.

    I hope this is possible.

    Hi Victor,

    You can do that by prepopulating fields over URL. We have a very nice guide about that which you can see here:Prepopulating fields to your JotForm via URL parameters

    Now I have also created a simple sample for you to take a look at:

    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/43214481531952

    Basically we change the thank you message with the parameters explained in the guide above and in the case of the sample I made this is the Thank you URL:

    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/43215344535955?txtDateStart={dateStart}&txtDateEnd={dateEnd}&datestart[month]={dateStart:month}&datestart[day]={dateStart:day}&datestart[year]={dateStart:year}&dateend[month]={dateEnd:month}&dateend[day]={dateEnd:day}&dateend[year]={dateEnd:year}

    Now what we must pay attention to - which is why I made a textbox sample as well as dateTime tool sample, is that when we are sending and accepting the multi valued parameters we need to make sure they end in the right place.

    Since date can be separated as a month, day or year or any combination of above, we will need to pass the values to each of the fields instead of passing entire value as with the textboxes.

    To make more sense, I have made the entries I am talking about bold above.

    There is another sample doing similar, but with Full Name as an example: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/42912153930955

    Please let us know if you have any further questions and we would be happy to answer them.

    Best Regards,
    Ben
