Form loads very slowly for some of the users in the app

    Hi,

In my form "Field Visit" I have a dynamic dropdown widget with 3 levels. It is the field "Zone/Woreda/Kebele". I have recently update the choices to a very long list, over 200 entries. The list will even grow more in the future.

The users fill the form through the Jotform app on tablet and smartphones. They work offline and synchronize when they are getting back online. Since the update there are some of my users who complain about 2 problems:

    1. The form loads very slowly, up to 10 minutes.
    2. Sometimes the user is thrown out of the form without warning when he starts to fill the form.

This does not happen with all the users. I myself tried the form with the app on tablet and smartphone and did not have any problems. for me the form loaded in a few seconds ( a little longer than before) and I was not thrown out.

Could the problems be related to the long list of choices in the dynamic dropdown widget? So why does it not happen with all devices? Or could there be a different problem, not connected to the widget?

I need this long list of choices, do you have a better idea how to implement it in the form?

    Thanks

    Chana

    Hi Chana,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. We are sorry that you are experiencing this in your Form. The bigger the form is with lots of fields, and a lot of widgets the most likely the form will become sluggish on the devices. The opening speed of the form may also vary according to the features of the mobile device.

I would suggest you divide your form to avoid this. Having a well designed shorter, dynamic, and easily used form is still the best way to make your form effective and have an excellent user experience. You may clone your form on your account and divide it into several parts. Then you can connect them using a redirect on thank you page feature. That is, once the first part of the form will be submitted, the second one will be opened, and so on.

Reach out again if you have any other questions.

    Hi Brandon,

Thank you for your quick answer.

There are two problems with the solution you suggested:

    1. If I recall correctly it is not possible to customize the thank you page for mobile apps, it always shows the default thank you page. Is this correct? Can you still put a redirect on the page, which will work in the mobile app?
    2. Still, one part will have to include the above mentioned dynamic dropdown widget, which has over 200 entries on three levels.
I am afraid that even if the remainder of the form will be very small, this one widget will cause the form to load slowly.

Do you have other suggestions for a dynamic dropdown with hundreds of choices?

    Thanks

    Chana

    Hi rozalinaod,

Thanks for patiently waiting. Unfortunately, mobile apps have their own Thank You pages that can't be changed. Don't worry, we've gone ahead and escalated this to our developers, but when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.

    Hi rozalinaod,

Thanks for waiting patiently. It is possible to show the edited Thank You Page after submission on the mobile app as well.
