I assume then that you had already used the Jotform custom Import Tool to import your existing forms. If not yet.., I recommend you do that first.
You can follow the guides from this article

and there are also now ready-made formcentral templates here

perhaps you can already use some template that matches your requirement.
I could not provide a definite time frame as to when the imported forms will appear in your My Forms account, but you will definitely get notification via email alert (aside from the forms appearing in your My Forms page) also when they are ready and available.

i read the info in the links and tried to import a form. followed the procedure but was never asked for my adobe user name or password? at what point in the process will I be asked that?

After you click on "Import Forms" and select whether to import just the forms, or the forms and their data, you will be prompted for you Adobe Forms Central log in:
