How to allow users to come back and edit their own submission record?

Is there a function to add that makes it possible for the registrant to log back in to the submitted form and update the form?

If I understand your question correctly, you want to allow your users to come back and edit their own submission record. Is that correct?

Yes it is possible to achieve your requirement. You need to basically add {edit-link} tag in your form's autoresponder email alert. This will add one clickable link the submission email which the users will receive after the form submission. Clicking on this URL will allow the users to edit their own submission record.
