Can a Condition Be Created to Change the Label of a Field Depending on an Answer given in Another Field?

Asked by Pablo on March 11, 2015 at 06:58 PM

    Hi JotForm Team!

Is there any way we could modify the labels of our form when our clients start to fill in the fields?

    For example:

Question 1: What is your favorite color?
    Answer: Blue

Question 2: Why is "Blue" your favorite color?

I don't know if I am explaining well my question to you. Any doubts please contact me.

    Hi Pablo,

It's not possible to do this in the form builder but one workaround would be to create duplicate fields, change the label of each duplicate and then create conditions to show the appropriate duplicate depending on what is selected/entered in the other field. Here's a small demo of what I mean. If you were to clone it and examine it, you'd see the following Show/Hide conditions:

To actually alter the label of a field based on what is answered in another field would require embedding a copy of the form's full source into a web page and adding a custom script.

Here's a guide on our conditions wizard but if you need further help with this, please inform us.
