Is it possible to convert existing fillable PDF?

As a new customer, I am in the process of converting four Adobe FormsCentral (AFC) accounts to four paid Jotform accounts. I congratulate Jotform responding to lost AFC users.

That stated, I am hoping Jotform will be able to assist me. Is it possible to convert any existing PDF Fillable?  I volunteer for a non-profit FHPWEF and would like to convert our scholarship application template to JotForm.  Currently, users are able to print/scan or save their form to their desktop with data to email along with required attachments.  I would like to convert to using JotForm.  Also, the font in red has to be updated each year.

I am looking forward that applicants will now be able to submit their information, which automatically goes into a spreadsheet (instead of manual transfer) and upload documents directly to Dropbox or Google Docs, which was not available in AFC.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your feedback toward our effort. Nice PDF form, btw.

It is not possible to convert an existing fillable PDF form yet.

You would have to create a form then convert it into PDF using our new Fillable PDF creator.

Another alternative would be to build a form with our tool, or import the ones you have at your Adobe FormsCentral account, as explained here:

Once this is done, you can integrate them with Dropbox or Google Docs as any other form build with JotForm.

Then you can download the submissions on PDF format.

Please check all the guides above and for more doubts, we are ready to assist you.

I forgot to mention that imported forms from FormsCentral account can be later on converted as fillable PDF forms.

I'm new to Jotform and I impressed what you are doing. As a former Formscentral user, I'm very excited about your possibiliy to import PDF forms. Unfortunately this service doesn't work as fast as desired. Many days ago I tried to import some PDF-Forms and a Formscentral acccount. Until today I got no answer and I couldn't find any imported forms in my account.

As I have a FormsCentral project (a complex survey with several hundred users) that should be transfered to another service as soon as possible, I tried to adapt one of my existing fillable PDF forms to a PDF form, that can be used as an input file for a JotForm-Database. I took me a while but after some testing, I was succesfull. I was surprised how easy it was and I think it could be usefull for others to know how to adapt their PDF forms to JotForm.

How to convert a fillable PDF made in Acrobat to work with Jotform without Import
(This procedure works with original Acrobat Forms, not with FormsCentral Acrobat forms. You need Acrobat Pro.)

    1. Make a Form in Jotform with all the fields you use in the fillable PDF.

    2. Export the form to a PDF Form (More > Create PDF Form) and download it.

    3. Open the PDF in Acrobat Pro and activate the form-edit-mode.

    4. Note how the different fields are named.

    5. Rename the fields (fields-property) in the original Acrobat-PDF according to the JotForm-PDF.

    6. Copy the send-button and the following four fields that are hidden outside the form (top-left): Form-ID, Website, Simple-SPC and PDF submission.

    7. That's it.

If you can't find the hidden fields, you can create the following textfields in Acrobat Pro. To hide them to the user, change the property to hidden:
    -  Form-ID: fieldname: formID / value: numbers of your form-ID
    –  Website: fieldname: website / value: empty
    –  Simple-SPC: fieldname: simple_spc / value: formID + hyphen + formID
    –  PDF submission: fieldname: pdf_submission / value: 1
(I'm not sure, if all four fields are necessary.)
If you don’t know your formID:

In my case I had to adapt different JavaScript-Code to the new fieldnames. It would be great and even much easier to convert a fillable PDF to Jotform, if one could choose and change the fieldname used for PDF forms directly in the Jotform form.

Thank you for sharing this detail explanation about creating Fillable PDF with us and other users.

I have moved your question about imported PDF files from Adobe FormCentral to separate thread and we will provide you an answer there shortly.

I wonder whether the PDF converter can help with that?

I'm not sure if that would be applicable in this case, the link that you shared is a software that converts PDF to images. Our developers have already made a PDF converter at the back end to convert our online forms to fillable PDF forms. But some users might find what you shared helpful.

If you have concerns or questions, we recommend opening a new thread so that we can better assist you.
