I would like to remove the JotForm branding from notification emails -- is this possible?

Hi,
Yes you can do that, if you would like to user a custom email address as the sender of the notification, you can set up an SMTP to your form.
You can try this guide which will help you setup a custom Email Address: http://www.jotform.com/help/238-How-to-Add-a-Custom-Sender-Address-to-an-Email-Alert.
But I would recommend that you setup an SMTP using Mandrill instead, here a guide for that: http://www.jotform.com/help/236-How-to-use-Mandrill-to-Send-Emails-From-Your-Own-Email-Address
