Can I use randomization at JotForm?

Asked by Joao Ramos  on April 18, 2015 at 05:53 PM

I need to randomize my respondents to different types of the same question in the form (also known as test A/B in other developers, such as surveymonkey).

More than that, if it was possible, I would like also to send a link to my respondents as an invitation to the forms, in such a way that they would be randomized to one of two different forms.

How is the data stored? Can I download it as an Excel file, so that I could analyse it in other programs?

    Thank you.

I've created the following forms based on what I understood of your inquiry.

    Landing Form: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/51077950866970
    Test A: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/51078163612956
    Test B: http://form.jotformpro.com/form/51078157317961

The landing form would be the one you would share with your respondents, this form contains a random value generator and a calculation tool. Both are hidden so you won't be able to see them in the form and I used them to randomly redirect a user to Test A or Test B based on the result of the calculation.

If the calculation returns an integer then users will be redirected to Test B otherwise they will be sent to Test A.

You can learn here: https://www.jotform.com/help/57-Smart-Forms-Using-Conditional-Logic about conditional logic (which is used to perform the redirection).

Please check them out and let us know if this is what you're trying to accomplish. You can also clone the forms to your account if you want to inspect them further.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that I've moved your question about Excel to a separate thread here: http://www.jotform.com/answers/554934 so we can properly address it.

We'll be answering it as soon as we can.
