Is there any limitation on number of characters that can be added in Dynamic Dropdown Widget options?Asked by zafanorMDQ on April 21, 2015 at 11:07 AM
The number of characters in Dynamic Dropdown is limited?
When I close the page volvo JotForm and reopen the amount of "Levels" is deleted.
dropdown widget in JotForm number of characters and amount
I am not sure if I have understood your question correctly. Do you mean to say that the number of nested option is deleted?
I did check your form and found that you have added 46174 characters without space and 59798 characters with spaces. Do you mean to say that you added more options and it is being deleted? Can you please let us know the total character count you are trying to add? Alternatively, you can send us the complete list of dynamic dropdown options and we will take a look. You can copy the options in the pastbin site and send us the URL: http://pastebin.com/
We will wait for your response.
I need double the options
It seems you are right. I did test the dynamic dropdown widget and it seem the option values gets trimmed after adding 46174 characters without space and 59798 characters with spaces. I am not sure if there is an upper limit on number of characters that can be added.
Let me report it to our back end team. We will get back to you as soon as we have any update from them. I'm sorry for the trouble caused to you.
This has now been fixed - it was caused by the way the settings were being stored on our server - limiting storing the setting data/text to 50KB max.
We've introduced a solution that sequentially stores settings into 50KB chunks, allowing for a lot more configuration text to be used on the widget.
It works fine, and you can edit, add or remove configuration text.
Please note that increasing your configuration size will affect your form's performance - it might take longer to load, and on some slow or old browsers - not work at all.
From my tests, a 20KB config size appears to be a reasonable threshold -
If you run into any issues - please let us know.
