Enforce Valid email

Is it possible to use the e-mail validator and require that an e-mail's results be valid before proceeding with a form?

I cannot find a way to set the conditions to recognize the valid e-mail message.

Never mind.  I tested a submission and discovered that if a valid email is not input, and this is a required field, the user cannot make a submission.

    Hello NVParoleBd,

You are correct, JotForm has email validation enabled automatically if email is a required field.

I am glad you were able to get your problem solved. If you have any other problems don't hesitate to reach out in the support forums for help.

    Thanks, Aaron

    Hi, NVParoleBd,

    Thank you for the update!

In addition to what Aaron have mentioned, you can set validations to any fields. (Please see image below)

Setting a field validation to Email through Properties window, will require a field to be filled out with a valid email format like test@test.com.

But anyways, we are glad that you've figured it out already.

Should you need any assistance, please do not hesitate to let us know and we will be glad to help you anytime.

    Cheers!

    Hi Mike,

Yes. I know that, but it doesn't guarantee that the person will receive the e-mail, and we are dealing with people who's liberty is at stake at the Pardons Board.

For anyone else who may be reading this thread:

My testing has shown that someone can plug in a correct code and then continue to use the form, but not so if they enter a bad e-mail address.

Unfortunately, if someone plugs in a bad e-mail address they have to start over.  This can be frustrating because it can easily take an hour to fill out this form.

Here's a web page that I have posted that helps to explain to user what they need to do to fix the problem of a bad e-mail address being entered.  I've made a link to it in the form.

We use a staging server, so it will not be active until it synchronizes, approximately 1:00 PM, Pacific Time:  http://pardons.staging.nv.gov/Mini-Help/Help_for_Verifying_an_e-mail_with_an_On-Line_submission/

    Hi, Alan,

I'm sorry if I didn't get what you really want to happen with your email validation field earlier.

I understand that, from what you said, it would take you at least 1 hour to fill up your entire form, however, the Email Validation Warning will show as soon as you have entered an incorrect email format and moved to the next field. (See image below)

If you are asking about validating the email if it is an existing email address, then that is a different story. I would recommend for you to use the E-mail Validator Widget already.

If the user didn't verify his/her email address then he/she would not be able to submit the form. In this way, you will be able to make sure that they are going to receive emails from you. Since, in the first place, they need to give a valid email address that is needed to be verified with a verification code sent to their email addresses.

This is what it will look like if emails are validated successfully.

I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please feel free to let us know anytime.

    Thank you for using JotForm.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Milke_G,

No problem.  The staging server has synced.

For anyone who is reading this thread, this page comes from a link in my form.

I hope it is helpful when planning designs.  (Too much info in a form is confusing.)
