    Master Contact List

Asked by trocvisn on December 02, 2011 at 12:06 PM

Hello, I've been using jotform for years and love it!  Great job!..  I'm also a Microsoft SharePoint administrator.  What I'm trying to do is create an online master contact list, where the people, who are the contacts, would edit their contact info themselves thorugh an online form type tool.  This can be done through the use of a list in SharePoint.  So.. each user can create, edit and see only their items, which is great, however.. the built-in tools in the SharePoint list's input form give the users options that we don't want them to have, like "delete" or "create new".. or "alert me" etc.

All we want the users to do is to be able to edit their contact records.  We don't want them to create a new contact item or delete the record that is in the list.  So... I started asking myself the question of whether or not jotform had the ability to do this type of thing.  Is it possible to have an input form, that feeds a central master list or database/spreadsheet, whereby the input form is controlled so that the user can only edit the data in the fields and cannot create a new record or delete a record.  Just like a SharePoint form, we would also want them to be able to upload some docs to the list as well.  So.. is it possible to do this type of thing with jotform?   Please contact me with an answer at tom@sharepointspaces.com   Thx!

    Hello Tom,

You may try something similar with us. First of all you will need to create a form with the Edit link functionality. After this you can submit the form by yourself, and then send to your customers mentioned Edit links, so they will be able to edit needed submissions. Another way is to ask your customers to submit the form only once, and then using only the Edit link from auto responder email.

I have sent an email to tom@sharepointspaces.com, but in the future please change your account email address under Account Settings, or contact us directly at jotformsupport@gmail.com for email support.

Please feel free to contact us if you need any further assistance.
