Is it mandatory to use Mandrill?

Unfortunately it seems so! I set up an SMTP account based on AWS SES and the 'From email' field doesn't show up!

    Please advice. Thanks

The from email field was removed in a recent update to the email template, you only need to specify the sender email and name.

Not sure if I understand your answer.

I've 2 email accounts setup as 'email/sender' SMTP in JotForm.

If I use the one that uses Mandrill - I see the "From email" (that allow me to use a form field as 'from' email).

If I use the one that uses Amazon SES - The "From email" doesn't appear. WHY?

My question still stands: is it mandatory to use Mandrill as SMTP server to be able to use a form field as email sender?

    Hope to hear back soon.

Sorry for the confusion, it is advisable to use mandril if the email you are sending from is from the yahoo domains, this is due to restrictions on using yahoo emails to send emails from outside their servers.

For non yahoo emails it is not mandatory to use mandrill.

The reason why the mandrill options provides the from email is because the default option will show the email as origination from mandrill or mailchimp, the from email allows it to override this default behavior.

For other emails it is not required since the from email will be the actual email used in this case.

I hope this clarifies your question regarding the mandrill behavior

So the question is why I can't use another Mandril-like service (such as AWS SES) to set the "From E-Mail" ?

Mandrill has some issue that are causing mails to do not be delivered ( and I need a more reliable solution that still allows me to have the "From" email set with a form field.

    How can I do that?

I checked the setup of one of your form and I can see that you have successfully added different sender emails. See screenshot.

Can you provide to us the email and link or name of the form where you encounter this issue so we can further check? And also, have you tried setting the email using your own SMTP server details? You can check this article for more information: Send Form Emails From Your Own Email Address

We will wait for your response.
