    "I challenge you" form.

    Hi there I am looking for a challenge type form for an wordpress anti bullying  website. The idea is that people would read the pledge against bullying, put their name and challege a friend, a email is then sent to that friend saying "Your friend XXX has challenged you to sign the pledge" and both names would appear on the site as having taken the pledge. Does anyone have any ideas how this can be done?

    Yes, this is possible.

    All your form will need is to ask for a Full Name field (of your participant), and an Email address (of the friend being challenged). Don't forget to make these fields Required.

    Then, you can set up an Autoresponder email for that Email field, which will contain your text that their friend has challenged them, and a link to your site where you have embedded this form.

    You can embed your form onto your Wordpress website with our iFrame embed method.

    Finally, to display the names of the people who have filled your form, you can set up a Grid Listing Report and embed it on that page as well.

    What name should I put on the auto response email? I have noreply@jotform.com in the address but what do I use for the name?
    I would like it to read the person who has challenged them.
    Also is there a way to customize that email? I put in this {myName}{iChallenge}{emailOf3}
    But it was not what I was looking for
    I wanted it to read
    I Bob challenge you John

    You are kindly welcome.

    When it comes to naming your Autoresponder,you can use {myName} if you wish for the full name of the first person to be used as a sender.

    Here is how the sender would appear in an actual email:

    For the body of your Autoresponder email, please use the :first inside the name fields to get only the first name entered. So you should replace this:

    {myName} {iChallenge} {emailOf3}

    With this:

    I {myName:first} challenge you {iChallenge:first}

    If the first person is named John Doe, and the second person is named Peter Peterson, the Autoresponder would look like I John challenge you Peter.

    Here is what the email received will look like:

    So hate to be a bother and thank you so much again, but I think I messed up. I made the change you mentioned below and now when I test the email, or submit through the website I no longer get the form in my email. Thank you so much for your help it is appreciated.

    I have taken a look at your mail history, and here is one of your testing submission emails:

    I have also made a test submission (which does not count to your monthly limit), and this is the email:

    According to our records, these emails seems to have been delivered to your mailbox without any issues. Can you please check if you have received these emails? Perhaps they ended up in your spam folder.

    I have also logged into your account to check your Autoresponder, and I can see that it is set up correctly.

    If you are not receiving these emails, it may be that your mailing server is filtering your submission emails due to some reason. If that is the case, you may need to Whitelist JotMails IP Addresses, as well as add noreply@jotform.com to your list of safe or whitelisted senders, or even add to your Contacts.

    Hmm I tried the options below and am still not getting the emails I used to. I got a say though the ones you showed me look good lol.
    If I was getting them before but now since adding the {myName} to the sender name, does that tell you that the ip whitelist issue is not there?

    I have tested you form with a sample submissions and I managed to receive the challenge email,

    I have cleared your forms cache kindly try submitting again and let us know of the outcome

    Hmm well I still did not get anything but I added my email to the form as a Notifier not a auto response and it came through.

    I did it by going to email lists and in the compose email selecting test email.

    Hi,


    Test Email button in both Auto-responder and Notification email will always be sent to your account's email address. Can you try to setup your Notifier email like this?

     

    Adding the {emailOf3} in the Recipient E-mail will make your Notification e-mail behave like an Auto-responder. Please test your notification email by doing a Test Submission (input your email address on "email of who you challenge" field and see if you will receive the E-mail. 

     

    Do get back to us if you still did not receive the emails.

    That worked, I did that and got the email. I did not fill out the address or who I am challenging but I just hit test and got this
    Question Answer
    My name {myName}
    My email {myEmail}
    I challenge {iChallenge}
    email of who you challenge {emailOf3}

    But I did get the email

    Hi, 

     

    What you receive is just test email. Please note that Test Email only sends a sample email in your account's email address regardless of the recipient email set in your Notifier or Autoresponder email. It does not change the value for the fields. You need to submit your form with sample data. I've cloned your form and got email with correct values when I submitted in it. Can you try to test your form by Test Submission and see if you will receive the email with correct data?

    Are you saying that regardless of how in the form I set up the autoresponder or the notifier it would go to the email addy on the account? As I was not getting them either. Although it seems to be working now. So that is good! Is there a way to get the text from the email included in the response? What I mean is that this is what I received when I tried out your clone…

    Hi,

     

    On your question: "Are you saying that regardless of how in the form I set up the autoresponder or the notifier it would go to the email addy on the account? ", yes, regardless on how you setup the recipeint email the "Test Email" button will always send the email to your account's email address. So to fully test the Notification or Autoreponder email, you will need to submit a test data in your form. 

     

    Regarding on the design of the Notification email, you can try to copy the email body from your Autoresponder to your Notifier email. See demo below.
