I want to know when field summation function might become available.

Asked by DanBlum on December 21, 2011 at 03:09 PM

I see in your responses in the forum the limited function you have for summing fields.  The response, I think I recall, it said something to the affect of  "we currently have...." implying that there is some thought about this function being added?   Could you share with us where you stand with this potential improvement?   Is it (for instance):

    - ready to be released in the coming month?

-ready to be relased in the coming year?

    - high in the priority list but hasn't hit the scheduling and development teams?

    - low in the prioity list and likely will not make it in the coming years?

    - not really something you guys think you ever  want to tackle?

Knowing which of the above best fits the situation would be helpful to me in making decisions about how to proceed with JotForm.

Do you accept external design requirements from users?  It would be ashamed to get the new function and find it not really useful or applicable to my situations.

Thanks for any insights you might share.

    Dan

Hello, thanks for your interest in JotForm.

Can you link me to a few of the threads you were looking at? Hopefully from one of those, I can check what status this feature request has with our developers. I am personally unaware of the exact status to be honest.

I did a search on SUM FIELD VALUES and  clicked on the entry:  "I would like to add two totals to my form".

That's where I saw the word "currently".   There are other entries with the same theme when you search on SUM FIELD VALUES.

Don't know whether to respond on the forum or not.so I'm doing both. Here's
what I put an answer field on my forum entry:

I did a search on SUM FIELD VALUES and clicked on the entry: "I would
like to add two totals to my form".
That' where I saw the word "currently". There are other entries with the
same theme when you search on SUM FIELD VALUES.

    Hello Dan,

We do not have plans on implementing field summation function at this time. However, we can create a feature request ticket to our developers to see if we can add it to our nice to do feature list. Right now we can not say when or if it will be implemented.

Please note that we have a Grading element with Total option, you can also add a Total for payment forms with multiple products.

Please confirm if you you are still interested in feature to be able to get the sum of any fields.

It looks like I could actually use purchase order IF it had not only
multiple selections but also a count subfield for each product. For
instance, I want 2 apples (at $1 each) and 3 oranges at $1.25 each). Any
chance this option there and I am missing it?

Otherwise, yes I would like summation on fields. I guess from what I
requested above, I should modify my request to allow simple ARITHMETIC on
fields (not just summation). I need arithmetic to multiply price times
quantity and add that to other price times quantities. Please put in a
request ticket for this. As you can see, I could reasonably make do with
the purchase order function if it was expanded to accept quantities with
    each product.

Thanks for all your quick responses.
