Saving space by lining items side by side

I am trying to consolidate my form and put items side by side instead of vertically.  I found an answer on here saying to click spread columns.  However, I cannot find that tab.  Please help!!!  THanks

You can shrink the elements for them to fit side by side, refer to the following screenshot
