Just so you are aware your solution below will not work for many of us as email filters of many companies block emails coming through from generic addresses. Thank you for posting that you are working on it. I was beginning to panic.
TO ALL OF USERS: Our developers are working in the current issue with email notifications and custom sender email addresses. To quickly resolve this please change the Email address in Sender field email@example.com OR firstname.lastname@example.org Or apply this other method:

First of all, please accept our apologies for all these inconveniences.
Our developers are aware of this problem with email notifications and are working to fully fix it.
There are two inconveniences at the moment:
1. Custom sender emails.
To quickly fix it, there is a explanation here (where mandrill is one option
2. Using the option Attach PDF.
For those having this configuration you will have to un-check the option to disable it until the problem is fixed.
