Unexpected behavior

I am working on a couple of forms. You applications is really very fine. However I just found something I didn't expect.

Once I do login I request an overview of my forms and what I get is a list of all my forms (actually I have 2 right now). When I do clikc the first one it is hightlighted. On the right side of the form name I do see 3 icons (edit, preview and delete). When I do click preview I do expect to get a pop-up with the form in its current state. For some reason I do get a previous version!

The URL connected to the above is http://form.jotform.com/form/13435303307&forceDisplay=1&prev, the form in its current state is at http://form.jotform.com/form/13435303307. When I remove the parameter "&prev" and the "&forceDisplay=1" things seem to work properly. It was easy to recognize since I changed fontcolor from black to white. When I choose to edit the form and then select preview a popup appears with the correct form (http://www.jotform.com/form/13435303307).

Curious to understand whether I discovered expected behavior or something which need to be changed (a bug or feature?).

Kind regards, Huub van Baal (login huubvanbaal)

    Hello,

Have you tried deleting your browser's cache?

So far I have tried checking your form on preview and on actual and I can't find any difference.

If you're still experiencing problems with your preview, please let us know.

    Thanks.

    Dear Liyam,

Have removed some of my IE9 settings using the guidelines found at http://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=15141. This removes temp internet files and cookies. Also the cache is cleared explicitly. I still see a previous version of the form (going through http://form.jotform.com/form/13435303307&forceDisplay=1&prev) with black characters being used.

Strangely enough the behavior is not only on my laptop (running Win7 and IE9) but also on my desktop (running WinXP SP3 and IE8, Firefox10, Chrome 16.09.12.77 and Opera 11.61). The extra parameters on the URL (&forceDisplay=1&prev) do make a difference and show me the correct version (white characters).

    Any other suggestions?

    Kind regards, Huub van Baal

I'm not sure how to go around this.

Currently I have checked both URLs and both links are showing white fonts on my Win XP using Firefox 10, IE8, Chrome 16.09.12.77, and Opera 11.61.

I also have tried this on my netbook using Win7 using IE and firefox, both showed forms with white font.

So I'm guessing that this has something to do with your network.  When you tried this on your desktop and your laptop, are the computers under one network?

    Hi Liyam,

This is going to become a strange story. I've just used a VPN connection to a totally different system in The Netherlands. Then started a remote client where all the exection is on the remote VPN host and just my screen is used as the display device. Guess what, using the URL with the additional parameters shows me an old version of the the form (black character) while the same URL without the extra parameters shows the actual version with white characters.

Any suggestion how to get to the root of the issue here?

    Kind regards, Huub van Baal

    Thank you for provided information.

I was able to reproduce the problem, and it is probably related to form caches on our CDN. I have created a ticket to our developers about this issue.

Please note that you can use the Preview button on the form page itself. It is pointed to https://www.jotform.com/ and should not be affected by cache bug.

We will update this thread once we get any more information for you.

    Hello Mike_T,

Thanks for your reply on my last communications. Happy that you're able to reproduce the issue :-). Usually when I am working on the content of the form I am using the preview button on the form page itself. For the time being I will no longer use the preview icon on the forms overview page.

    Kind regards, Huub van Baal
