How can I make UTM parameters work with my form?

    Hi,

I have my jot form embedded into  my client's website: http://juicyburgerbar.com/jobs

To get people to come to the form, we're running advertising on social media and emails. I would like the ability to be able to track where these users are coming from using UTM parameters. Right now, I'm using  the Get Referrer widget but it isn't giving me the full picture of where they're coming from, it only says "m.facebook.com"

Can we narrow that down even further?

We've made some changes in the Get Referrer widget, but think the widget should suppose to track the full URL. I asked this to our Widget Team Manager. I'll let you know here once I get a reply from him.

Don't you have a Google Analytics account? We have a widget for that: http://widgets.jotform.com/widget/google_analytics. I'm sure you can do this with Google Analytics. Other than this, I don't think we have a workaround.

    Hello,

The get referrer widget accesses your document's properties (your webpage) to retrieve a read-only property known as  document.referrer

The value of this property is updated when your webpage is opened from another website or web location via a click, and ad... etc.

Concerning Facebook referrals, you will not be able to tell the specific Facebook URL that referred to your page - this is because Facebook deliberately removed it. So all you will ever get from a Facebook Referrals is www.facebook.com among other subdomains.

Would you mind sharing a link to one of your Social Media ads? I'd like to run tests and see how we can help you achieve capturing UTM parameters for your campaign - no promises - but we'll try.

    Looking forward.

    Hi,

We are not currently running paid advertising yet until we figure this UTM thing out. Right now we are just running this Facebook post that links to the embedded Jotform: https://www.facebook.com/JuicyBurgerBar/posts/449045945296628

For other clients and using other form software, I have been able to make the UTM tracking work pretty much flawlessly by adding "?source=fb-ads" to the end of urls in facebook and "?source=instagram-ads" to instagram ads, as well as using a hidden field in the form that has the value [source]   That's why I'm inclined to believe it is possible with Jotform

    Thank you!

Well, prepopulating a field is possible in Jotform.

    1. Just add a textbox field and label it with Source.

    2. Use this app to populate the field, http://prepopulate.jotform.io/.

    Example: https://form.jotform.com/60264370069959?source=facebook

You can embed the form to your Website and just append the same parameter, ?source=facebook
