    Hi,

I have two forms:  Application and Reference.

The Application form has a selection from drop down:  Applying to be (drop down) volunteer, intern, summer staff, staff member

Whatever they select there, after they submit, I want to populate the second form with in a textbox so the reference person knows whether they are applying to be a volunteer or intern etc.

Yes, that is possible. Please check this guide on how to accomplish this using our prepopulation method: http://www.jotform.com/help/351-How-to-automatically-pass-form-data-to-another-form. Let us know if you need further help with this.
