I have set up a subscription in the PayPal payment wizard on a form so that clients can pay for a service in instalments.

Is there any way of setting up a subscription so that the first payment is different from all the others?  In the case in question, I want to set the first payment as 20% of the total amount due, and the remaining balance to be paid in 9 equal instalments.  I have calculated fields on my form that work out these amounts.

Is it possible to set up a payment plan in this way?

As a second point, is it possible to set the date of the first monthly instalment?  As I understand the setup, monthly payments will begin immediately, whereas we would like to set them to start at some date in the future, in this case August 1, 2016.

    Thank you.

While setting up subscriptions, it is possible to have a Fixed amount as the First payment. You may set the number of payments with the price so that the customer can be charged monthly. Please see the image below:

Since you may be having different subscription plans so that you may need to calculate the 20% of the plan as the first payment.

Generally, the subscriptions will be started as per the first payment and shall be renewed on the same date as per the plan. However, you may enable the option Authorization only in the Payment field so that you may charge the customer from the PayPal dashboard manually. But it still starts the subscription on the date of first charge and continues to charge the user based on the plan.
