Data Grid widget just shows as yellow block

Asked by IDIUser on April 22, 2016 at 02:41 AM

I've added Data Grid to my form https://form.jotform.com/61117002052133 under Pay Codes, but I can't figure out how to use it. When I preview the form, it's just a blank yellow box.

The purpose of the widget is to have the user dynamically enter their text values so I can capture them on the backend in a spreadsheet or CSV for import into another app. Your spreadsheet widget wont work because it only accepts numbers. Please advise and thank you for your help.

Please note that the Data Grid widget is not an input type of field, it will just display a table with a list of values to your users, it is something like a look up table.

The reason why it is not showing in your end because you have incorrectly set it up. In your column names, you have setup two items. However, in the data list, you have 3 items on each row, which presents 3 columns.

If you want to have a table-like field that allows you to add values on them, you can try using the Matrix field.

If you want your users' inputs to automatically show up on a spreadsheet, then perhaps integrating your form to Google Spreadsheet will help? You can check this guide: https://www.jotform.com/help/228-How-to-Integrate-Form-with-Google-Spreadsheet

You can also download your submissions as an excel or CSV file, you can do that in your submissions page: https://www.jotform.com/help/269-How-to-view-Submissions

You can also create reports for your submissions, here are the list of reports you can do: https://www.jotform.com/help/326-How-To-Create-Form-Reports-in-JotForm

I hope that helps. Do let us know if you need more help on this and if I misunderstood how you want your data to be presented.

Can I use the Data grid to capture the data entered into the form by the user and have it display to them while they are filling out the form.  Then have the user have the option to click on items in the form to add, edit or delete their selection.  If so, is their an instructional video on how to set up the Data Grid Widget?

    Thank you in advance.
