New Preferences UI: Autoresponder/Notification emails not hiding blank fields

Asked by agrewe on May 17, 2016 at 09:56 AM

For one of my forms, the notification and autoresponder emails aren't hiding blank fields, as they did previously.

For my "Schedule A Visit" form, I'm having an issue with two "Choose a Date" fields that are using conditional logic.   The form displays & requires an answer to only one of these fields, based on the user's response to the initial radio button - they'll either see a drop down field where they choose a date from a datepicker (if they choose "Freshman" in the first question) or they select a preset date from a dropdown menu (if they choose "Transfer Student" in the first question).

The issue is that the email notification and autoresponder emails include both fields - one shows the date they picked, the other is blank.  Ideally, the email would just display whichever "Choose a Date" field they actually filled out.

I have double-checked that the "hide blank fields" option in Preferences is checked, and copied/pasted the default "emailFieldsTable" table in the source of both to try to make sure my email formatting isn't screwing it up.

Please let me know what the issue might be - thanks!

    Hello agrewe,

It appears that the table in your email notification has been modified and unlocked which prevents the fields to automates the hiding of blank fields. Here is the warning message that comes with unlocking the table:

So what you can do to fix this is replace your email notifiers by creating a new email notification.

If you have questions, please do let us know.

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the response!

I remember seeing that warning in the past, but it doesn't seem to appear in the newer interface my account is using - it lets me click anywhere and make edits without a warning:

It also doesn't show any of my fields in the "Form Fields" dropdown.  I don't know how this interface change happened, is this something I can switch?

Thanks for the quick response!  I am now able to see the form fields dropdown, but it still isn't giving any warnings or info about unlocking the table.

The hide empty fields on emails option is not currently available in our new UI. We have sent a request to our developers to add that option to the new UI.

In the meantime, please try enabling it via old UI. To switch between original and new UI use the next links.

    Hello agrewe,

We're sorry for the inconveniences. We've removed Hide Empty Fields feature from UI and made it enabled by default for new forms.

I've checked it with a clone of your form and it's working properly now.

If you have any other questions please let us know.
