Duplicate fields along with condition. Deleting condition of one field deletes condition of duplicate field as well.

Asked by MetroSerbia on May 19, 2016 at 09:13 AM

    Hi,

is there a way for me to quickly select multiple fields and to copy/paste them?

I have need to create form for manufacturing dept. and they have same set of steps copied over and over. Also I want to have option to check for data validity and that is why I'm not using "Dynamically Expandable Matrix" widget.

So I'm setting up one question that can be applied to 8 different process steps, but that can multiplied unknown number per user (from 1 to 20)

Something like on the picture below.

So is there a way to somehow group questions and easily copy/past them so I can use hide/show condition?

Or even better to auto add group of questions directly in form like in "Dynamically Expandable Matrix" widget.

If I understood you correctly you want to duplicate fields inside of your form. To achieve that you can use Manage Multiple Fields option. Inside of this guide you can find how to do it:

    https://www.jotform.com/help/242-How-to-Manage-Multiple-Fields

You can also use Configurable list widget if you want to allow your users to dynamically add new fields.

Hope this will help. Let us know if you need further assistance.

Sorry guys to inform you that non of these options is working for me.

Using widget is not possible, since I've already said that I need validation of data input and that is not possible with widget.

Multiple fields copy/pst is working somehow but not as it should. If you copy fields that include some kind of logic (like show filed B if selected value of field A is XX) than all these conditions are copied (what it should do) BUT they are connected to first set of fields or randomly combined (and that is big no-no)

If you try later on to change conditions for one set, than same thing is applied to first set of fields.

Please try form VOCMM test to see these in real example. I've just renamaed fileds to reflect sets (1,2) so it is easier to understand what is changed and how.

Try conditions 5 and 6 to change to reflect right fields, you'll see that in same time other is changed.

    Can you solve this?

I did check conditions 5 and 6 of your forms and noticed that when I select an option from the condition of field 1 to hide another field, the duplicate field is also being hidden. This appears to be due to the conditions having the same value being hidden.

I did some tests to my own form with managing multiple fields and conditions but I cannot seem to replicate the issue there. Before we proceed any further, can you please try clearing your form cache and your browser cache first? This should refresh the form and the conditions within.

If the issue still persists after clearing the cache, please let us know.

Sad to say but same thing is happening. Even if I delete one of these conditions, other is removed also.

First of all, we are sorry for the inconvenience this may caused you. To better assist, we would appreciate it if you could provide us the form ID of your form that you are having the issue. At that time, we can check it for you. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Hello,

I did test this issue in one of my own form and I am able to replicate it. When we duplicate the form fields with conditions and then try to delete the condition of one field, it deleted the conditions associated with the duplicate field as well. Please check the screenshot below:

It seems if the form fields are duplicated along with conditions, the field ID is not updated in the duplicated condition and that is the reason it deletes the original and duplicate conditions. I am reporting it to our backend team. We will get back to you as soon as we have any update from them.

For now, I would suggest you to duplicate form fields without the conditions by un-checking the "Duplicate Conditions" checkbox.

    Thank you!
