Google Spreadsheet Integration: The Edit Link in Google Sheets becomes broken when a submission is edited.Asked by yusuffrosh on May 25, 2016 at 05:39 PM
We have testing a paperless workflow in which we are using edit link. The form is integrated with Google Spread Sheet. Upon clicking on the edit link and resubmitting the data. The Edit link get a single quote character ( ' ) added as shown in the screen shot. This makes the link inoperable. How can Jotform fix this issue.
Thank you for letting us know of the issue regarding the edit link in the Google Sheets integration. I made some tests in my own form and I was able to replicate the issue there.
The issue may be caused by the additional information being updated during the submission of the data to the google spreadsheet, or perhaps the edit link may be read incorrectly when the data has been edited. I have reported this issue to our higher level support for further investigation.
Further investigation suggests that there appears to be an apostrophe being applied before the hyperlink formula after the submission has been edited.
As a temporary solution, I would suggest to remove the apostrophe ( ' ) before the hyperlink formula to fix the edit submission links.
We have 5 departments pulling referring this sheet. When members visit each dept the users update the form and the sheet is messed up. The process becomes extremely inefficient for users to constantly edit the sheet as each member will be visiting all 5 departments and there are 486 members .... every single edit submission will have to be edited in the sheet. This could cause human error too. This is a known issue for quite some time looking at all the post. Why can Jotform resolve this issue.
A bug report ticket has been already assigned to one of our developers. Unfortunately, we do not have any ETA for when it will be fixed, but we will let you know once we have any updates.
Hi, This has now been fixed. Editing a submission will no longer break the edit link in the google spreadsheet.
