GeoComplete Widget: When searching address zip code is missing

    Hello Jotformers!

I received a message from you that a bug (regarding street address numbers getting truncated) with GeoComplete was fixed. All of a sudden most, not all, addresses are coming thru WITHOUT Zip Codes...

Thanks for investigating, we love this widget but we would like to see it behave better :)

Thank you for contacting us. I have reviewed your threads and assuming you are referring to the following thread:

    https://www.jotform.com/answers/805131

I tested the GeoComplete widget and did noticed all the address I entered, did not have the zip code.

I have created a ticket for our back end team so they can review and see how it can be added in the search. As soon as we have any update, we will let you know.

    Hello!

No, the screen shot you show is not really the problem.

Until now, we saw the same results as you see there, the address showed, the zip did not. When you actually click on an address, the Zip Code populated properly and was passed on to the database.

Just recently the database results for several form submissions do NOT include Zip Code info...

I hope that clarifies our concern.

I did some test again. When you enter the submission page you will only see the address as it looks in the GeoComplete widget. Since there is no Zip code in the search the submission data will also not contain any zip code.

If I am not understanding you, please feel free to correct me.

Ah, I believe you just proved my point...

I tried the White House, no Zip Code.

I tried Google Headquarters (the source of the Geo data) no Zip Code.

Clearly ALL address submissions are failing to return the Zip Code.

In the past, the Zip would be returned. A quick look at our database shows that most addresses are now without Zip Codes. I tested two that DID show Zip Codes...when I put the address into the web form NO Zip Code is returned. I suspect addresses which do show Zips are being entered manually but the customer.

It is clear, the widget is not behaving properly :(

Thanks for taking a another look.

Unfortunately, the widget is not pulling the zip code properly. I have already raised the issue to our team. They are currently reviewing and analyzing the issue. As soon as it is fixed or we have an update, we will immediately inform you.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Good morning,

Is there an update for fixing this bug? We have a programmer working on script to create US Mailing labels based on this form data. He cannot go forward without the Zip Code.

    Please advise.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, we do not have any update at this point. I will send out an email asking for an update, but do to the workload our team has. It is not possible to indicate when it will get fixed.

    Thank you for you patience.

Unfortunately, we have a tough call to make.

For now - It's either the widget returns street numbers, or zip codes, but not both.

We can keep looking for alternative solutions - and that will take time.

For now, we offer to reverse the latest update so that you can keep working, going back to truncated street numbers, but the zip code will be shown.

    Let us know.

    Good morning,
    Thanks for your quick reply.
If you are asking me, please leave the widget as-is.
I have added a separate field for customers to fill in their Zip Code
manually. That way our programmer can take the address from the Geo Widget
and the Zip (and apartment info) from separate Jotform "Basic Fields".
Having the Geo Widget truncate the street address is a problem we cannot
fix, so no, going back to that is not a good option for us.
I have a suggestion: either add a basic field to the Geo Widget
specifically for Zips so folks have the same work around that we do OR
somehow tell folks they need to collect Zip info separately. The Geo is one
of the best pieces you guys have going...I did not find other form makers
offering it. It makes the form much quicker to fill out and gives all
concerned the confidence that the data is accurate. Anyone collecting
address info should be using it!!! Knowing ahead of time that it does not
return Zips will help folks use it.
    Just saying...:)

    Hello Mark,

Your message to retain the widget as it is and not revert back to previous version has reached my colleague @TitusN.

We will get back to you as soon as we have any update on this.

    Thank you!

    Thanks for the update.

We'll keep it as it is - in the meanwhile, looking for a solution that returns both the street number and zip code.

This ticket will remain open till we can resolve this.

    Cheers!

    Hello again.

I was just filling out a Google Wallet form. They are using Geo for addresses. When I put in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington DC etc. the initial data does NOT show the Zip.

Then the data is parsed WITH ZIP CODE INFO as you see below:

    http://www.clipular.com/c/6046515119783936.png?k=X4xcwN0BsasCuATT_wtuuoHZkVM

If Google can do it, Jotform can. The only question is how did they do it???

    Good luck,

    Mark

I think they are using a different method. But thank you for providing us an example. For the meantime, you may consider the following widget for getting the ZIP code:

Please give it another test - we've released a new update that populates the zip code as well as the street number.

Give it a spin, let us know.
