    How to have a formatted field in my form?

    Asked by cruforms on July 06, 2016 at 12:15 PM
    Also we are trying to get a number format in a number field. Meaning the field would already have $ in the filed and then the person can just type the dollar amount, but we would like for the dollar sign to stay and even decimal laces to come up if possible in that field. Is that possible and if so how?

    Decimal places are possible for number fields. Regarding $ symbol, you can add those below the text field as a sub label. Please check the below screenshot:

    Hello thank you for your response. We actually want the $ to be in the field. So they can type directly into the formatting. Meaning the can type 365.67 but it will look like $365.67 when they type it into the field. Adding a sub label to field will not accomplish what we are looking for.

    Thanks!

    That can be possible via custom css code, and can put the $ icon image in background.

    Please refer the article How to inject custom css code in JotForm

    You need to put the below css class:

    input[type=number] {

        background: url(//shots.jotform.com/david/dollar.png) no-repeat scroll 3px 6px;

        text-indent: 12px;

     }

    Also please check the screenshot:

    You can check it to my test form: https://form.jotform.com/61863445382966

    If you still have any query or need further assistance, please let us know.

    Thanks.

    Hello, thank you very much it is very helpful! Would it be possible to make the $ sign black instead of green?

    Actually I have downloaded that icon image while searching on Google, and it is only for the demo purpose. So you can create your own image, or can try to search on google, and can get the image according to your choice. And after getting and uploading that image to server, you can update the path of that new image in the CSS class.

    That is, in mentioned css class instead of the imge path "//shots.jotform.com/david/dollar.png", you would require to replace it, with your preferred icon image path.
