Can input mask allow for other possible input?

    I'm asking people for measurements:

    ## x ## x ##

    They really should be able to enter 2 x 2 x 2 not 02 x 02 x 02. If they enter a single number in a ### then hit tab, the input should accept a # (# through ###)

Input mask is used when a specific format is required.  If the mask is set to ## x ## x ##, it will require input in that exact format.  This is the intended usage of masking and I am fairly certain it will not be changed any time soon.

You could simply use three separate numerical fields, one for each dimension.  This will make certain they enter numbers of any length.

(sorry, just bumped into your thread looking for something else)

That is true, you could use three separate number fields.  The only downside would be the three values would be splt in three different fields.  Viewing and exporting the data would also be split into three different columns or rows.  The values would also not be formatted as ## x ## x ##.
