    Hello yourhuntingapp,

You can format a date on how you think it is convenient for you. Do you have a specific concern or purpose for this?

    Looking forward to your response.

I am importing my data from an excel file. I have modified the cell format to be a date and when I import the data it just shows up as numbers. It does not keep the date format.
    Thanks

You should right click on the cell you want to format then click on the option "Format Cells", you should get a window like the one below, there you should select "Text" and click OK:

Then in your Excel file you should add the date with these two different formats:

    1. 07-21-2016

    2. 2016-12-12

    This should be the result:

    Hope this helps.
