How can I set my "submit" button with the Facebook "like" attributes?

Asked by ipenshop on April 02, 2012 at 01:32 PM

My form will be a contest to win an item.  The form must "submit" to my email and "like" the facebook page simultaneously.  Is there a way to do this?

You would need to create a form WITH a submit button AND the facebook like button

Please follow the following guide I have prepared for you:

    1. Login into your FB account and copy the URL as shown below

    2. On a new tab click on this link  Facebook Like button page

It will take you to the page to make the like button

There you need to paste your FB page URL , customize it to yur desire and then click on "Get Code" , as below:

    3. Then click on IFRAME and copy entirely the code, like it is shown on the picture:

    4. Go back to your form builder and  create your form with a Free Text HTML tool included . You can find that tool under Power Tools, then click on "Edit HTML" at the right hand side

    5. Paste your FB like code there :

    6. Last step, add the Submit Button  and the end of the form, (get it from the Form Tools Menu) and set up your email on the notifications section, you can get there by clicking on the email alerts from the tool bar , as shown below

Hope this guide sorts out your requirement

Jeanette - thank you for the excellent instructions!  I tested this method and although the form submits properly, the "like" does not register on the page.  I need for the "like" to register when the page is submitted.  Do you know what the problem might be?

    @ipenshop,

I think there's something wrong with your FB like code. Can you please regenerate a new one? Please make it sure that the URL to like is correct (should have http://www). Thanks in advance.

Okay, your example shows the "submit" button 1st and the "like" button
last. Which is it? The instructions in the forum clearly state that the
"like" button goes before the "submit" button. I rechecked my iframe like
    button coding and it's correct.
Just in case I re-pasted the info and I still get the same result. The
    "like" does not register.
    Thanks!

    Hi,

Thanks for you reply. Actually, that was just an example and I can put it anywhere. I created my sample form just to test the like functionality and not the placement. Anyway, thanks for letting me know about that.

https://www.facebook.com/FiPenshop.Promotionals Is this the correct page on your like button? It's page not found, maybe I got it wrong. Please let me know so I could also test it here. Thanks a lot!

Got it. The problem here is this URL: https://www.facebook.com/iPenshop.Promotionals  I'm not sure if it doesn't exist but we just can't access it here, even my colleagues. Instead of showing the actual page, it only redirects us to Facebook Homepage.

Can you please recheck again your facebook page url? I have made some research and I found this, maybe this would be very useful for you: http://daveworks.net/web-design-development-tips/social-networking/facebook-social-networking/facebook-business-page-redirects-to-facebooks-homepage/

I have also check your website's facebook like button on the footer (www.ipenshop.com)  and it's also not working because of the facebook page URL which doesn't exist or not accessible. Please check that article above and let us know if that doesn't help. I'm sure it's something to do with your facebook page url, because every facebook like button needs an existing URL to like for.

Hope this information helps. Let us know if you need any further assistance. Thanks.

    P.S. Nice website! :)

You know, someone couldn't access my page earlier and because FB had my
page down for server work yesterday, I assumed they screwed something up.
I sent a message and got no response.
I was wondering why I had to be logged in to see my friend count on my
website. Thank you so much for the info. I had it restricted to the U.S.
because I don't sell overseas. My bad :-(
Okay, I'll try my contest page again and see if it registers the "like".
    Will let you know
    ciao!
p.s. I did the website myself and I really appreciate the feed back from an
    expert.

Nope! Still doesn't register the "like" when the form is submitted. Maybe
    you can try again?

    Hi,

Great, it's perfectly fine on my side now. My like was counted when pressing Like button on your form. I think I have misunderstood the main part of your question, what my colleague, jeanettebmz did is just embedding facebook like button to your form not integrating it on the submit button. The functionality that you're trying to achieve isn't currently possible with JotForm. I'm truely sorry for that.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Yes, the point is that you can only enter to win, if you "like" the page!
Okay, I'll have to add a note to the contest stating that you have to
"like" the page to be truly entered in the contest!
    Darktech
    I like that
very funny, a little dark, but very funny - ciao!
